I am writing this to you with more than a hint of irony on April 30, the start of Screen-Free Week. In this article Mary Gomes writes

Excessive media use is not good for us physically, mentally, or emotionally. The good news is that taking a media break is a powerful way to improve our well-being. I’ve been assigning a four-day media fast in my undergraduate psychology classes for many years, and I’ve witnessed the effects firsthand. Based on the research and my teaching experiences, I’ve compiled these five reasons to participate in Screen-Free Week and take a break from media.

I’m not sure that I’m ready for a four-day media fast, but I might try a Friday email-free day. Want to join me?
