I am delighted to announce that Dr Thembi Mason will act in the role of Associate Dean, Education over the coming months as we continue our recruitment process.
Thembi is already well-known across the school and widely recognised for her expertise and passion for learning and teaching across curriculum design, development and assessment. Thembi’s sound knowledge of the principles and practices for quality assurance and learning and teaching related policy and frameworks within the tertiary education environment has been invaluable for the recent re-accreditation of ITE programs within the school.
Thembi first started at RMIT in the Business College in 2001 as a Multimedia Producer. After a stint at Deakin University, she returned to RMIT in the DSC College as an online learning advisor. A couple of years later she became a Senior Advisor Learning and Teaching. From then until now, Thembi has not only worked as a liaison for the School of Education but she has also co-led and project managed a number of national learning and teaching projects, including Not a waste of space – professional development for staff teaching in New Generation Learning Spaces and createED ‐ Strengthening learning and teaching in the creative arts disciplines. Thembi has taught into two programs in the School of Education.
Thembi has a Masters in Multimedia, a Grad Dip in Secondary Teaching and a PhD (appropriately focused on strategic leadership of Associate Deans!).
I welcome Thembi to her new role and am looking forward to working closely with her.
